Where your giving goes:
Tithes & Offerings - goes to our general fund, to meet the church’s ongoing needs at the church’s discretion. This is also your way of designating the giving as part of your personal spiritual discipline and worship to God. Any money that is not marked specifically for something else goes into this fund.
Missions - goes to our church’s “Mission Budget”, managed by our Missions Team. This budget is reviewed annually to determined how to best to serve needs around our region and world.
Deacon’s Fund - goes to our specific “Deacon’s Fund” which is designed to meet urgent, emergency, or organic needs in our local Salem community.
Why do we ask you to give? (isn’t that a bit bold?!)
Simply because we believe we’re in this life together to make an impact on other’s around us for reasons greater than we can ever imagine. Below are a few of our convictions.
God is a Generous God
God in His very heart is a God of generosity. He shared His world with us (Genesis 1), He shared His Son Jesus with us (John 1), He has given us new life through His Son (John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:17), He has given us an eternal inheritance (1 Peter 1:3-4), He’s given us His Holy Spirit as the guarantee (2 Corinthians 1:22, 5:5; Ephesians 1:14) & deposit (2 Timothy 1:14), and He’s promised to prepare a place for us in heaven forever (John 14:2-3). God is immensely generous! Thus He calls His followers to follow after His heart into this same kind of grace and love-filled generosity.
2. Our ministry is 100% reliant on faithful giving
Your generosity to FBC Salem enables our local church to continue to do Gospel work both in Salem and around the world. We are non-profit, and only use money to bless others (See more below in “our commitment to you”)
3. Generosity changes you
But even more so, giving to support the ministry of a local church is actually an act of worship. It is a declaration of praise and of faith. We give knowing that God will supply everything we need. It’s well-known now that many studies have shown that those who give are happier in life. But even more so for the Christian church. Giving is a recognition of God’s goodness, and it sends us into a place of freedom & joy.
Our commitment to you
We realize that when you give to FBC Salem you are trusting us with your valuable, hard-earned, God-given resources. We are humbled by that and desire to be good stewards of every gift that is given to us. Therefore, this is our 4-fold commitment to you of how we will use all money given to us:
We will pray over and for all the money given to this church
We will be transparent with how we spend money at this church and communicate to the congregation openly
We will not hoard money, but - in wisdom - will aim to use it primarily to serve the needs of our church, community, and world.
We will use all money for the advance of God’s Kingdom - in Salem and around the world.
Salem - caring for local church needs, giving to partner organizations, serving the tangible & spiritual needs of those in need in our city/communities
Around the world - supporting missionaries serving in national and global contexts, and organizations furthering the Gospel in every corner of the globe
